Just got back from Haiti. Safely. The day after I returned, the State Department issued a travel warning for Haiti. Ropa de Relief sent me into the field to team up with Peacework Medical Projects. All in all there were 10 volunteers who traveled to northern Haiti to respond to the resurgence of cholera in the region and run a primary care clinic. We saw just over 3,000 patients in 10 days. There was no electricity and no running water, so it was difficult (impossible) to update the blog. Although I was shocked to discover just how clean you can get bathing out of two cereal bowls full of water. Anyway, I’ll piece together what I have and post a few entries and some photos as soon as possible… once the pressures of daily life allow for it.
In the meantime, check out our ebay store. The money you spend there is directly translated into assistance for people in need around the world. And we have some good stuff for sale that you might not be able to find in stores yet.
Check back often for new posts, photos, and gear. This is only the beginning. And thank you to everyone who contributed and made this trip possible.
